You awaken on a fog-shrouded shoreline and meet Echo, a strange child with a hole in their stomach. Together you cross a lantern festival where the veil between worlds is thinnest, sail into an ocean that opens beneath you, and descend through a portal into the Underworld.
The Underworld moves through different facets of grief: a rave where silhouettes dance in slow motion, indifferent to Echo's attempts to reach them; a frozen sea where giant statues crack open to release a buried memory of a lost mother; a shadow theatre where an anger monster is unleashed, reducing everything to embers.
From the embers, a boat carries you into a vast darkness, where Mother appears, and they are finally reunited. You sail together to the Tree of Life, a bioluminescent, cosmic jungle. Echo begs her to return to the World of the Living, but ancestors appear and surround you. She cannot come back - the journey was never about bringing her back. Echo, revealed to be your own child self, dissolves around you as the hole fills with light.

Founded in 2004 by Damon Albarn and Ian Birrell, the UK music collective Africa Express has spent two decades bringing artists together across borders. In February 2024 it arrived in the Americas for the first time. Over eight days in Las Estacas, Mexico, more than 60 musicians from Africa, Latin America, Europe and the United States came together to rehearse, perform and create an album from scratch.
Following Africa Express from Mexico through Europe and back, the film becomes a poetic journey through music, memory and imagination, celebrating the power of collaboration and community as reality slowly blurs with fantasy.
With no single protagonist, the collective itself is the main character and music is its language. Africa Express is a portrait of a fleeting community and of what strangers from different worlds can build when they truly listen to each other.
The remarkable true story of six working-class Scots who created some of the most enduring and influential soul and funk music of the 20th century. Rising from the clubs of Scotland to the top of the U.S. Billboard charts, Average White Band’s journey is one of extraordinary talent, cultural crossover, and resilience. Just as global fame beckoned, tragedy struck with the sudden death of drummer Robbie McIntosh - a devastating loss that would change the band forever.
Featuring electrifying archive performances and intimate new interviews with the surviving band members, alongside contributions from Chaka Khan, Michael McDonald, Mark Ronson, DJ Premier, Questlove, Chuck D, and Flavor Flav - the film explores how AWB, as one of the most sampled bands in history, left an indelible mark on hip hop, R&B, and popular music - influencing generations of artists.
In the summer of 1997, two 19 year old lovers set out from the Birmingham suburbs in a classic car. Their destination: the grave of Nick Drake, whose music had become a shared language between them and a comfort for their unacknowledged pain.
This journey, captured in memory and reimagined on screen, becomes a meditation on youth,
longing, and the quiet power of music to shape identity and connection where deeply hidden
vulnerabilities can be shared.
Interwoven with this personal narrative are intimate audio interviews with artists from different
generations who reflect on how Drake’s music shaped their lives and creative paths. Their
insights echo and deepen the emotional terrain of the road trip, creating a layered portrait of
influence, absence, and resonance.
When Russia started its full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Slava Vakarchuk immediately joined the army. He is the lead singer of Ukraine's most popular rock band, Okean Elzy. He has put himself in danger by performing hundreds of times for the troops at the front, and is an articulate and highly respected advocate for his country's right to exist. President Zelensky gave him and his band a new mission - a world tour to champion Ukrainian culture and raise the morale of refugees living abroad. The band's performance at their sell-out concert at the UK's Royal Albert Hall acts as the spine of the film.
The band was formed on the dawn of independence, and their songs have become anthems of pro-democracy revolutions ever since since. The film charts the band's 30-year history with contributions from a varied group, including Timothy Snyder, Andriy Shevchenko and music producer Ken Nelson, all to tell the story of how 'soft power' can be used as a weapon of self-defence.
