Audrey is troubled. Everything should be great - she and Henry love each other, they live in a nice flat, they're a happy young couple - except now she can hardly stand the sight of him let alone allow him to touch her. What went wrong? It wasn't meant to be like this.   Audrey knows she's changed. Deep inside she knows she should make a clean break but that would mean turning her life upside down - being alone. So she carries on as ever hoping her feelings will change. Her mind is plagued by dark dreams - weird sex with her best friend's new boyfriend, taunted by a lunatic farmhand called Crevice. As Audrey struggles to keep her nighttime horrors at bay they start to creep into her reality and invade her waking hours. A small, orange, plastic ring grows at her navel, attached to a piece of string which disappears into her stomach.  What involuntary words will she utter when the cord is pulled? Will her own body betray her?  Audrey must take control of her life before she is consumed by the nightmarish world that runs parallel to her reality and she is forced to do something unspeakable.   Or maybe she's just having a breakdown.   It's a story for anyone who has ever ended a relationship or gone a little crazy.

Heathcote, a young English officer, arrives on the Island where Napoleon is being held prisoner. His mission is to keep a close watch on his military idol. Lowe, the new Governor of the island, has just arrived too and rules the island like a prison. Napoleon's valet and childhood friend, Cipriani, waits on this little world. The microcosm of the French court stands united in continuing to treat Napoleon with the utmost respect.   An escape plot is hatched by an American Pirate and the former Grande Armee general. They plan to carry the Emperor away from Saint Helena on board the mythical Flying Dutchman and it becomes increasingly clear to Heathcote that Napoleon has a plan. Heathcote remembers the day when he lost Napoleon who galloped off across Deadwood Plain. He now realises that this allowed Napoleon to calculate the time needed to reach the coast. Everything for the escape goes as planned but, at the last minute, Napoleon seems to change his mind. Napoleon's rescuers are killed in the course of a bloody battle.   We see Napoleon on his deathbed clearly finding some comfort in the priest at his side. In front of Napoleon's coffin, Heathcote gathers together the threads of the story and realises that Napoleon's only chance of leaving the island was to stop being the Emperor. Cipriani laid down his life so that Napoleon could live an ordinary life at last. Heathcote likes to think that this return to a simple and anonymous life is the finest proof of Napoleon's tactical genius.

Mr Thompson is a very old man, who wakes up every morning to buy a drooping flower from Miss Simmons, the forever-unmarried flower shop lady. She secretly believes this is just an excuse for him to see her but she never does anything about it. Today, however, through some strange turn of fate, they have managed to set themselves a date.

Mona has just got hold of a brilliant moped that only cost a tenner. No engine but still dirt-cheap. She lives with her brother, Phil, who used to run a pub before he found God and poured away all the booze. Tamsin is rich, spoilt and trying to live a life of seductive decadence.   Mona and Tamsin meet on the moors, above their quiet Yorkshire village and begin an intense, unlikely friendship. While Tamsin is tragic and fantastical, Mona is rough and witty. Tamsin is quickly charmed and Mona is hooked. Both want to escape their lives but Phil wants to save them, and everybody else. Mona wants the old, dangerous Phil back; the brother that she loved, but Tamsin wants to see what it takes to break him. As the lives of the three characters converge, a sexually charged struggle between good and evil leads to a dramatic and shocking climax.

From the battlements she has watched Holofernes, the enemy general, and now she plans revenge and triumph. When they meet in his camp, they discover more complex desires and needs in each other, and during one night work out a passionate and dangerous relationship. By dawn Judith is victorious, but it is a bitter victory.   Does patriotrism justify any action? Is Judith a hero or a maniac? Is Holofernes oppressor or victim? Is this a story about the sexiness of war or the savagery of sex? Can violence ever generate peace, or does it just keep the brutal cycles of war, defeat, victory and reprisal circling forever?

Riva is the portrait of a woman, Riva Ben Eliezer, now ninety years old. How do you look at the life of someone who has lived through so much? I would look at her hands, wrinkled and old, and think, these are the hands that did all those things, that were communist in Palestine, that were imprisoned and tortured, that bore children and a great and terrible war, that lived in Siberia, that taught kindergarten, that wrote books. These hands, no other, did this, and this is what they look like now. This is what time and life has done to my grandmother's hands.   But the film is more than that. It is more than a portrait of a woman who lived through extraordinary times, who was a Jew in a place and time when there was nothing and nowhere worse to be. It is the portrait of a whole life, not just the sections that have the most drama. It is the portrait of her now - for now contains all her past, somehow, in her hands and in her face. In her voice and especially in her laugh.   It is a private film made for the public. The use of hand processed images, with their patina of blotches and scratches, creats a space for Riva to exist, where the presentation of her ninety-year-old body is not intrusive but respectful. It is a private film also because it was made in private, just me and her, so our relationship becomes a part of it.   It is not my intention with this film to deify Riva. Just to show her, as I see her, because it is important to see the lives of others, lives that have been deeply lived, as Riva's has.
