Synopsis

A Very British Gangster is an all access film inside one of Britain’s most dangerous crime families.  For the first time, a gang of contemporary criminals open their lives to reveal a brutal world and an underclass which relies upon gangsters for justice, rather than police.     The film follows the trials and tribulations of Dominic Noonan over three years, as he lurches from criminal trial to criminal trial.  Dominic, head of the Noonan crime dynasty, a second generation family of Irish stock, legally changed his last name to Lattlay Fottfoy, an acronym for the family motto; ‘Look after those that look after you, fuck off those that fuck off you’.    Rarely does a film gain such deep access.  Director, Donal MacIntyre, shows us a close-up view of a world embroiled in kidnapping, torture, narcotics and murder. But behind the macho bravado, a poignant world is revealed where a community struggles with poverty, violence and drugs.

'Across the Valley was shot, and the sound gathered, between July 2004 and January 2006, in the Cevennes, in the south of France. The film is from a single vantage point, a small area of flatness on the side of a steep valley. I filmed the view of the landscape from this point, through three of the four seasons, as well as elements of the scene closer to the camera. The resulting film draws on, and develops, my existing interests in the time-based representation of simultaneity, and in the temporal and sequencing possibilities inherent to film editing,' (Director Nick Collins).

After the rain is a love story, between neighbours Lian and Adrian, who suffer from surreal compulsive obsessive disorders. Lian, a Chinese waitress, evaporates when she cries, only coming back with the rain; while Adrian, the laundry man, coughs feathers in times of anxiety. As their worlds and disorders collide, we watch Lian and Adrian’s initial suspicion and distaste of one another give way to understanding, friendship and love. Tonally, After the Rain is a surreal comedy, addressing themes of love, ecology, racism and ignorance.

It’s 200 years in the future and much has changed but one thing remains a constant – crime, and it’s getting a little bizarre. Boris Goudphater is the first prototype cyborg to be developed by the World Security Network (WSN) to combat crime. The cyborg experiment failed due to a dangerous defect, but Goudphater managed to survive the de-commissioning process and escaped. Horribly disfigured, the evil wide-mouthed Goudphater is very angry and he’s out for revenge. Agent Crush the second prototype cyborg is also somewhat defective, but he’s trying to prove himself as a secret agent. Despite being furnished with all manner of superhero gadgets and hardware, Crush is prone to bumbling accidents and wreaks havoc wherever he goes. However, in tandem with his creator Spanners and Spanners’ daughter Cassie his latest mission is to stop Goudphater from exploding a nuclear device at the earth’s magma core, which will cause every volcano to erupt, destroying the earth. A spectacular flying car chase through the streets of New York and the underground lava caverns lead to an explosive climax. Despite his shortcomings, can Agent Crush prove that he really is the only man for the job and save the earth in time?
