It is the summer of '66, and England is about to be consumed by World Cup Fever. For 12 year-old Bernie though, the biggest day of his life is looming: his Bar Mitzvah, and the day he becomes a man. Bernie's family, however, are increasingly distracted by the threat of losing their business and their errant older son's bad behaviour, so much so that the scale of Bernie’s Bar Mitzvah diminishes daily. Worst of all the Cup Final is scheduled to take place on the same day and when England makes it through the qualifying rounds, Bernie’s longed-for Bar Mitzvah looks set to be a complete disaster.

Synopsis

This Inuit folktale tells of an unfortunate woman, who was thrown off a cliff into the icy ocean by her father. The motive for this deed remains untold. As many years go by, she becomes a skeleton, haunting that part of the sea. A young brave fisherman ventures into the area despite the local superstition and fear, and unwittingly hooks the skeleton. Linked by the entangled fishing-line, the fisherman races back to shore in panic. The skeleton follows him home, and the young fisherman's compassion overcomes fear. He provides warmth and shelter, and as he sleeps she plays on a magical drum (his heart) and sings back her human shape. They fall in love and live happily ever after.

When Mob boss Primo Sparazza took out a $1 million contract on Buddy ‘Aces’ Israel (Jeremy Piven), a sleazy magician who agreed to turn state’s evidence against the Vegas mob, word spread quickly throughout the criminal underworld. When a young woman, Beth, has problems trying to sleep, she visits psychoanalyst Dr Miller who suggests that she films herself sleeping in order for him to assess her sleeping patterns. Social Work is about the people who provide it to them -- those faceless heroes whose Monday morning is other people's Friday night. It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it. The film takes place over one Saturday night shift in a seedy nightclub and centres on Lee and Andy, who run the cloakroom. The club is the kind that people go to in every city and town all over the country. Andy and Lee are the Cloakroom Attendants, having worked there for the longest anyone has ever managed to, ruling it like their own little cubby-hole of a kingdom. It is their world. Everyone who enters the nightclub, almost invariably has to go through the ritual of leaving in their coats and unwanted belongings under the care of Andy and Lee. Under the ever-watching eye of the arrogant, slimey Club-owner Barry, they do their best to have a great night and make a little extra dosh with their cloakroom scams. The Staff and Clubbers find themselves intertwining, as each life has an unexpected impact on another. Lee and Andy find that their little cloakroom is a centre-point for many unforeseeable developments as they transpire throughout the night.
