Synopsis

This is a raw drama where ego and vanity clash with pure evil. We watch the impact of stress and pressure on Britain's number one detective as he attempts to solve the unsolvable. Infuriated by the publicity thrust upon Detective Chief Inspector Jeff Heat, a mysterious sociopath, claiming to have murdered hundreds of worthless individuals, reveals himself by e-mail and suggests that the new 'Sherlock Holmes' would be unable to capture him. The sociopath baits Jeff's team of detectives with cryptic clues before commiting a series of callous murders, much to Jeff's frustration. Under pressure from his bosses and depressed by his lack of success in piecing together the clues left behind by the murderer, Jeff makes one last gamble by placing himself in the trap, which backfires with disastrous consequences. This is an enthralling drama which demonstrates that evil very often triumphs over good.

Our central character (Jonathan Reason) is asked to investigate a virus spreading internet site called, yes, ‘Informatica’. But once he’s gone to this unusual site some strange things begin to happen in the house over the same night. He informs another person of the site and goes to bed. During the night one of the many victims (Maye Choo) trapped in the site crawls out. Japanese style horror ensues.

It's been 20 years since Krister set foot in Poland, and he's in for a number of big surprises. A modern Oedipal myth, a tale of voyeuristic obsession, Inheritance chronicles the transformation of a man in Warsaw as the city itself, emerging from its communist past, goes through its own changes. Krister, a middle-aged Swede of Polish origin, has been retreating from the rigours of the modern world. His life, on a small island near Stockholm, has turned into an uneventful slow death. His memories of Poland, a country he visited during his teenage years, are just as sad. The only reason he goes back is because he inherits a cottage in the Polish countryside. When he arrives in Warsaw, Krister is surprised by the city's modern infrastructure and by its outward signs of wealth. The butcher's shop he used to go to is now a sex shop, and his teenage friend Grzegorz is now a very respectable eye surgeon - and gay Krister is in for an even bigger shock as he meets 20-something Ewa. Krister thinks he is falling in love with her, which gives him a new zest for life. His discovery that she is a porn actress only adds to his obsession - until he learns that their meeting is no accident: she is his daughter.

In a little Victorian theatre in the East End of London, the infamous story of the five victims of Jack the Ripper is being recreated in a rock musical. The film takes us away from the stage and out into the real murder locations. Entwined with the stage performance is an equally disturbing backstage drama. Jenni (Gillian MacGregor), is a new actress, and she's late for the show. We've seen her in a car with two businessmen, Geoffrey (Roy Hudd) and Andrew; she is seen running away from the car by a concerned policeman. Back at the theatre, Trevor (Tom Wontner) is a young stagehand, shy and a bit of an 'anorak'; he takes life seriously. Jenni, whose innocent looks disguise a brittle, sarcastic manner, is rude to all other actors and dismissive of Trevor's fascination with Jack the Ripper. Jenni is alarmed by a strange-looking lurker. No one else sees him, but Trevor is sympathetic. Back at the theatre, Jenni and Trevor find that they have more in common than they expect, but she continues to be alarmed by the appearances of the lurker, while on-stage we hear the gruesome details about each of the Ripper's victims. Jenni is to play the last victim, Mary Jane Kelly, but has become convinced that she is at risk. She turns to Trevor, the only person who seems to understand. But then Trevor finds out a secret about Jenni that tears them apart!
