Synopsis

In the early part of the twenty-first century, a virus 'Omega Strand' - a variant of the avian flu, began spreading among the populous. Within weeks it had reached the world's greatest cities and the infection spread with ferocious speed. The loss of life was enormous, with an estimated 999 of every 1000 people succumbing to the virus. The virus would overwhelm a person within hours and upon death, the body would become reanimated until it was no longer able to sustain itself. Mankind was robbed of the basic essentials of life: electricity, gas, running water. Survivors packed into small groups and found refuge in high-rise buildings and remote areas as the majority of urban land became uninhabitable. With looting and disease, food supplies dwindled and became unreachable in the majority of towns and cities. Some survivors, not knowing if or when the chaos would end, began documenting their plight in whatever form they could: the written word, photographs and video.

Based on the true story of The Bell Witch of Tennessee, the story is of a spirit which attacked the wealthy and highly respected Bell family for four years, eventually causing the death of one of them. In 1818, the family began to experience disturbances on their property. At first, slight and unexplained noises; but the spirit began to grow, becoming aggressive and singling out the father, John and his only daughter Betsy. The attacks on Betsy were vicious and unstoppable, with her being brutally beaten regularly. The family desperately searched for the cause of the spirit in the hope of finding a way of defeating it. They tried exorcism and moving Betsy from the house, but the spirit continued its brutal assault. It developed voices and began speaking to the family, but refusing to say why it was there. Then, finally, it pronounced a death sentence on John. Within a year, he was dead. Shortly thereafter, the spirit left the family in peace, but never the same. It would not be until years later that we can be taken back to the terrible night the spirit was born and find out the horrific truth about its nature and origin.

Whilst in the hospital ballroom the Christmas party guests are blissfully unaware of the horror heading straight for them. With only the help of a pathological killer and a whimsical police bobby can Ellen escape the insanity of the asylum, the battle is on.
