Between being bullied at school, put upon by her overbearing boss at the local arcade and having to look after her younger brother, sister and emotionally unstable mother, life isn’t easy for Sarah Taylor. However, when Sarah’s drama teacher channels her ferocious and volatile energies in to a stand-up comedy routine for the graduation showcase, Sarah discovers that she may have a hidden talent. As her love for comedy grows and the showcase draws nearer, the delicate balance in her life becomes increasingly difficult to maintain. Little by little the walls start to close in, ultimately forcing her to choose between her responsibilities as a carer and her newfound passion for comedy.

Synopsis

Indie kid Rich lives in a remote cottage in Wales with his mum, Nesta, who is a novelist. He plays a guitar, but mostly to the sheep outside the house and the majestic, barren hills opposite.
Nesta is a heavy smoker and has just been brought back from the hospital, suffering, probably, from a lung cancer. Rich is looking after her and helping out with the shopping and house work, but wants her to make a change. They have a heated argument, but she refuses to accept the fact that cigarettes could be the cause for her decease, even though she gets slimmer and noticeably weaker.
She spends her days in bed, having lost her writing inspiration. She is visited by the local mobile GP, fitness maniac Dr Mickiewicz, who runs through forests and fields to reach his patients. He prescribes her movement and to Nesta's astonishment, even a fitness program which she has to follow. Nesta finds the very idea of her getting fit and taking up running ridiculous...

Synopsis

Essex boy Jim is so beautiful you’d think a Greek sculpture had just come to life. But, with no future in the cultural desert that is his small town and the prospect of fame, fortune and cultural stimulation beckoning in Soho, like many before him, Jim journeys to London.
On his first night, Jim is robbed and left penniless. He spends the night in an intricately made DIY cardboard box home with a homeless kid who suggests he join ‘The Raconteurs’ – a coterie of male escorts whose unique selling point is their encyclopedic knowledge of the arts.
What follows is Jim’s comic descent from unsuccessful escort, to artist’s muse and art authenticator – a journey complicated by a rare psychosomatic condition called ‘Stendhal Syndrome’ which renders him painfully oversensitive to art. Jim’s encounters with paintings by artists such as Caravaggio cause fainting and hallucinations. But while this condition threatens to bring about his downfall it might also open up new opportunities if Jim is willing to grab them.

Frank Sidebottom, remembered fondly as the man with the papier-mâché head, was the court jester of the Manchester music and comedy scene for over 25 years, but only a privileged few knew the man inside. BEING FRANK tells a twisted tale of split personalities – a suburban superhero with a fanatical desire to preserve the myth he created, and eventually having to battle against being consumed by his alter ego.
Drawing on unique archive footage of Chris and Frank, sourced from Sievey's own extensive archive of Super 8 film, VHS tapes and DVDs, a heartbreaking and hilarious look at what it takes to be a true artist.

Synopsis

Sam looks forward to happy family life with girlfriend Jennifer and rediscovered teenage son Mark. Complications ensue when best friend Jonathan meets an early demise. Unfazed by Sam’s decision to bury Jonathan in their herb patch mystic lodgers Trevor and Tracey hatch a plan to reanimate Jonathan, a fact unknown to Sam who now struggles to hold onto Jennifer and avoid encounters with the police fuelled by nosey neighbour Mrs Burd. With twists and turns at every corner this ZomCom love story gives a new meaning to the concept of survival.
