The film is a stylish British comedy-drama. A trio of New Age travellers/hippies dognap the beloved bulldogs of a Bristol-based antiques dealer, his wife and their detective son, and we have a full-on kidnap-and-ransom caper where everything goes pear-shaped before we reach a feel-good happy ending of sorts.

Maurice, the antiques dealer, is revealed to have no cash and is in debt to loan sharks. His fiery wife Maria-Carmen doesn't know about their cash problems. Their policeman son, Raymond, is incensed that his parents are being tormented and decides to take the law into his own hands. The hippie girl, Norah, is a devotee of the deity Luvah and turns on the 'angry brigade' class warrior Dennis when he threatens to harm the dogs. At the ransom drop, Norah's boyfriend Spook is accidentally killed and Norah sees him received into the next world by Luvah. So it's down to her and Raymond to put all things right - which they do, more or less.

Bicker, a manager there, wants to end the murderous way of life he has been living with his PA and fellow cohort in murder Antinori. But she doesn't want to let go and lures Bicker into killing again. As the detectives are getting closer to Bicker, he kills detective Kahn - setting up Antinori with the murder. The film climaxes in a Timecode-style finale shot in real time using four cameras to follow the key protagonists, Bicker, Antinori, Galloway and Van Doon, to the showdown.
