At a local hotel, Joe succeeds in shocking Aimee out of her resolve to see the plan through that night. The next day Joe gently probes Aimee, hoping to discover what has led her to such a desperate course of action. Later they visit a tarot reader. Aimee scoffs at the idea of having her fortune told, but when the reader traces her long lifeline she can't help but raise a smile. As they walk along the seafront, she stops at a payphone to call her mum. With a renewed sense of hope, Aimee and Joe make their way home.
