Synopsis

Modern-day setting of the legend of Prometheus who stole fire from the gods. Michael Feast plays Hermes, the messenger of the gods, as a 'narrator' figure. The first third of the film is set in the Yorkshire mining community with modern dialogue. The remainder of the film goes into rhyming verse. The second part of the film is the journey through Europe with a 20 foot high gold-leafed statue, symbolically representing the mining community, and the last third is set in Greece, where the miners are released from the statue.

A Rave is on. We follow a DJ from 'Insanity Sound System' as he breaks into a warehouse and rigs his equipment. He explains why and how he organises illegal raves. We meet two ravers, one who calls himself a 'techno-tourist' since he travels all over Europe to party and a girl who goes to raves every weekend and enjoys taking drugs.

Synopsis

The story begins with a young American man flying overseas to hunt rhinos in Africa with his estranged girlfriend who is currently living in Paris. As the background of the story is revealed, we learn that his search for her may not be as sincere and untainted as he had led everyone to believe. Upon arriving in Paris, the young man encounters Teen, a lonely despondent girl in need of comfort who offers to help in the search, only to discover that the girlfriend, who now goes by the name of Lola, is working as a stripper in Budapest with her new manager. After a fall out with Teen, the boy makes his way to Budapest and tracks Lola down in a prostitution house where he confronts her (and his own feelings) in a chilling choreographed climax.

Mike's father tells him that there's only one thing that makes life worth living - 'the empress'. The definition of 'the empress' is perfect sex that goes on for days with a woman so beautiful you could cry. Does she exist? She's as elusive as alcohol in Abu-Dhabi. And anyway, for Mike, 'the empress' is love that lasts forever and not sex that lasts for days. In his search for the perfect partner, Mike explores the party circuit and singles scene and falls in and out of relationships.
