Synopsis

Bedrooms and Hallways is a sparkling comedy of contemporary manners set in London. The action stems from the mis-adventures of two flatmates - Leo a reserved witty artisan who is secretly desperate for love and Darren a man with an extrovert personality hooked on dangerous liaisons. While Darren pursues his erotic encounters in various properties being sold by the seemingly conservative estate agent, Jeremy; Leo confides in his boss Adam, who persuades him to attend his weekly 'new-man' group therapy sessions held in a bizarrely minimalistic house in Kensington. Despite his initial reservations, Leo finds himself drawn into this quirky men's group - primarily because of the presence of the dishy Irish baker Brendan, currently in the throes of a trial separation with his girlfriend Sally, the mother of their child Rachel. The New Age men's group is run by the well intentioned Keith in the ridiculously elaborately themed rooms within his home. Affectionate friction between him and his wife Sybil, a dedicated therapist running her own women's group, is evident by their conflicting bookings for the "Moroccan Room" (complete with honesty stone), "Eskimo Room" (equipped with harpoon) and the "Zen Room", an apparent haven of peace until interrupted by the primeval re-birthing experiences undergone by the men's group downstairs! Leo surprises everyone in the group, including himself, when he confesses his attraction to Brendan. Little does he realise the impact his remarks will have on everyone within his orbit.

Mark, a botanist, is bitten by a sick woman while on a field trip. He is infected with a virus that makes him crave fresh human meat. On returning to London, he takes a new flat and lives a life of isolation where he can satisfy his need for flesh. Repulsed by his own violent behaviour, he takes a series of victims, eats them, and disposes of their remains as best he can. As his illness progresses he becomes weaker and more disorientated. His girlfriend Sarah is shattered by his vanishing, but slowly rebuilds her life with the support of friends. Mark is obsessed with Sarah and determined to see her again. He anaesthetises and kidnaps her, taking her back to his new flat. He starts to hallucinate and aware of his own volatile condition, returns her safely to live her new life. He is getting weaker, and after dragging the body of one of his victims, his leg breaks. Unable to seek medical help he screws a metal plate onto the side of his broken leg. The boundaries between reality and his increasingly disturbing hallucinations become more blurred. The flesh on his face is starting to ulcerate. He can no longer leave the flat. While masturbating, his decaying penis falls off in his hand. All that remains is to attempt as dignified a death as possible.

Jacob Two Two is 2+2+2 years old, the youngest of five he has to say everything twice to get himself heard. Jane Austen's novel, Mansfield Park, is combined with some of her comically surreal teenage writings, her letters and various biographical and historical details to construct the passionate story of a decadent, aristocratic family as seen through the eyes of one of their playthings: a young cousin, Fanny Price, dropped into their midst but always reminded she will never be their class equal. When a highly desirable and well-established young man, Henry Crawford, seeks her hand in marriage, the family is overjoyed. But she refuses him and is consequently sent back to her achingly poor and overcrowded "home" in Portsmouth. She longs for the one person who is forbidden to her: Edmund, the idealistic second son who has been her ally and soulmate since she first arrived at Mansfield Park as a little girl. But he is on the verge of marriage to Henry's teasingly enticing sister, Mary. Henry follows Fanny to Portsmouth. The Christian Squire, a sensitive and lonely man with a passion for poetry, must be persuaded to allow the station to be built on his land. Dovid, a poor young Jew, realises that an appreciation of poetry is the way to succeed in the railway station bid. Only the city educated Sarah from the Jewish community shares this passion for poetry, but she and the Squire have never yet spoken. Dovid enlists Sarah's help to secure his bid. Simon is seduced by Hase's bribes and is unwittingly playing a critical role in the battle for the railway. . .
