Synopsis

This film follows 25-year-old William Francome’s investigation into the arrest of Mumia Abu Jamal, famed death-row prisoner and award-winning Black Panther journalist. Francome, born on the day of Mumia’s 1981 arrest, engages intellectuals, writers and musicians in an effort to expose the truth about justice in America for black activists in general and Mumia in particular.

The energetic, poetic and deeply moving interviews of Alice Walker, Noam Chomsky, Mos Def, Snoop Dogg and Steve Earle raise questions about the repercussions and damage of racial injustice not only to those targeted, but to the American culture itself. And most pointedly the film asks, what does it signify that Americans are still determined to put to death potential leaders and powerful political voices of the African-American culture.
 

Synopsis

Incapacity is a film about the young and free in the 21st century - A generation, which despite the new opportunities available, doesn’t actually seem all that free. A generation that is told to go to school, in order to go to university, in order to get the degree which can get you the job. But what happens then? Incapacity follows the journey of Mally, stuck in a job he can’t stand, with people he has no connections with.

This begins to change when he meets Gabriel, a man who lives his life not following the rules, not following the crowd, a man who appears to have all the connections. Could Gabriel hold the answers that Mally is looking for? Or maybe, he just likes to do a lot of drugs.

Middle-aged Maggie must find a way to get enough money for her grandson's lifesaving medical treatment. With all financial resources exhausted, Maggie tries her best to lift the dwindling hopes of her only son Tom and his wife Sarah.
 
When a 'Hostess wanted' sign catches her eye, Maggie naively stumbles into a city sex club. The true job description is quite a surprise for the respectable middle class widow, even if she isn't a prude. Filmmaker Julien Temple chronicles the transformation of a self-described 'mouthy little git', born John Mellor, into an antiestablishment icon known to the world as Joe Strummer. In his latest documentary, Temple uncovers the myth behind the front man of the seminal punk band the Clash.

Through previously unearthed interviews with Strummer himself and recollections of those who knew him best, Temple reveals a complex man who used his music as a bullhorn for his conscience, as well as a means to educate others about the injustices of the world. The film includes live concert footage spanning Strummer's career and tapes of his BBC radio program, all of which provide a fitting soundtrack to his distinctive and storied existence.

New Yorker Harvey Shine is on the verge of losing his dead-end job as a jingle writer. Warned by his boss that he has just one more chance to deliver, Harvey goes to London for a weekend to attend his daughter's wedding but promises to be back on Monday morning to make an important meeting - or else. 

Harvey arrives in London only to learn his daughter has chosen to have her stepfather walk her down the aisle instead of him. Doing his best to hide his devastation, he leaves the wedding before the reception in hopes of getting to the airport on time, but misses his plane anyway. Moses and Chalkie are brothers trapped in two very different worlds.

Chalkie never grew up, a childhood accident stopped the clocks for him when he was six, he's got an artist's touch and an eye bordering on genius, but not much else.  Mike the window cleaner is his friend, and has taken him in after one too many beatings from Moses. Mike looks after him and he may have just found a future and a way out of The Heights for young Chalkie, he's just praying Moses doesn't find out before tomorrow when the deal is signed. Tonight, Chalkie is out, just doin' his thing, adding his colours to the bricks and the slabs of Paradise Heights, where everybody is nice apart from his brother.

To most around here, Moses is King of The Heights, his girls know that and so do the punters. The streets are his bloodline. An eye for opportunity and a cold ruthless streak got him to the top around here. But some deals go bad and even Moses answers to someone. If he doesn't come up with what he owes soon, the King will fall. Trouble is the punters aren't biting and the girls are nervous because a serial rapist is doing the rounds. Moses instincts have never let him down though and he knows Mike is up to something. Maybe Chalkie is the answer to his problem. What he doesn't know is the word is already out to take him down tonight.

It's when you think it can't get any worse that luck usually has a part to play, and as the sun goes down over Paradise Heights, worlds start to collide.
