Synopsis

Blood + Roses is a story about a couple who take a holiday in the hopes of rekindling their love. The wife meets a strange man who turns out to be a vampire, and takes advantage of her weakness to turn her.
 
But in order to be 100% vamp, she has to feed, which leads to some hard choices.

Based on extracts from the novel The Book of Israel, director Temple Clark has woven together a glimpse into two generations of a Jewish family decades apart.

Lithuania, 1886, a police sergeant and his companion return from their stations. The sergeant finds himself contemplating the hardship of his life. Stranded on the side of the road, the two officers seek shelter in a Jewish-owned inn. There, they drink, reminisce and play cards with some soldiers - loosing their money and the sergeant’s coat. The next morning, walking through the fields they encounter a Jewish boy on his way home and beat him up in frustration. Sixty years later, the boy’'s grandson, arrives in post-war Berlin, falls for a local girl and finds acceptance and love.

His journey starts in Sarajevo in 1993, a 23-year-old fresh out of Art College and prepared to dodge bullets on the front line dreaming of a Pulitzer Prize. His dream proves elusive. Fired by his photo agency and
struggling to make ends meet, any swashbuckling allusions Robert holds for the career he has chosen quickly evaporate: as he realises this is one of the toughest professions in the world.

Despite himself, Robert stays in the game, over time establishing himself as a respected professional, his work making the front covers of global media titles. Over 15 years Blood Trail records Robert’s life from
boy to man, to husband and father. It is a biography, which leads from reckless naivety to maturity hardened by war and softened by family. It is a story, which forces Robert to inevitably question why he chose a profession, which involves an endless trail of death and destruction.

When all their stories collide, the results are deliciously depraved and extreme.

Ritchie Donovan is a professional thief whose luck has just run out. The only survivor from a heist that goes terribly wrong, Ritchie is forced to take the rap and is sent to Russia to steal a priceless antique cross, locked in a safe on the penthouse floor of a Moscow skyscraper. Things start badly and go rapidly downhill when, during the robbery, Ritchie and his Russian accomplices are forced to take hostages because they are trapped by the police, on the unused 13th floor.
