Synopsis

In 1943 Alastair Pennington was an 18-year-old bomber pilot on his first mission. He lost his way and, harassed by enemy fighters, elected to jettison his bombs over what turned out to have been a small village. Plagued by guild for 65 years, he determines to embark upon a long-planned journey of atonement, driving to Germany in the company of his wife Valerie and useless son Ross. A bittersweet comedy about family, memory, guilt, love and assorted annoyances.  

Synopsis

Set against the backdrop of contemporary London, this new British film is a tongue-in-cheek look at the international art scene, in which lust, ambition and power prevail and where success and failure rest on a knife edge. When a well known art dealer becomes aware of a priceless painting, he unleashes all his powers of persuasion to encourage its owners, an aging couple, to part with their prized possession. However, when his assistant leaks this information to her wealthy lover, the situation becomes complicated. Friendships and marriage all hang in the balance. Meanwhile, we observe the artists and curators all desperately vying for the attention of the dealers and collectors, some of whom are willing to use any means necessary to achieve their ambitions. These include a talented and ambitious video artist who creates a 'Self Portrait' which includes her explicit exploits with her lovers, a well-meaning but out-of-his-depth curator and a slightly sinister secretary. When all their stories collide, the results are deliciously depraved and extreme.

Synopsis

Ritchie Donovan is a professional thief whose luck has just run out. The only survivor from a heist that goes terribly wrong, Ritchie is forced to take the rap and is sent to Russia to steal a priceless antique cross, locked in a safe on the penthouse floor of a Moscow skyscraper. Things start badly and go rapidly downhill when, during the robbery, Ritchie and his Russian accomplices are forced to take hostages because they are trapped by the police, on the unused 13th floor.

A tender, raw and surprising story of a small family of Brazilian cousins who move to London to make a living and broaden their horizons, the film stars Selton Mello as Jean Charles de Menezes, with Vanessa Giacomo playing his wide-eyed country-girl cousin Vivian. Eva Birthistle stars as the woman Jean falls in love with. Dreams, hardship, joie-de-vivre and tragedy are at the heart of Brazuca, which is set against the back-drop of the 2005 London bombings.

Carol Bailey is buckling under the weight of financial pressure, family responsibilities and his own ambition and desires. Resorting to violence and severing all ties of friendship and love, Bailey enters a world where his friends are unable to follow. After a self-imposed exile Bailey returns to London to apologise, things have changed. Not everyone is sympathetic to his sudden re-appearance and there are others who will stop at nothing to make Bailey's life a living hell. Faced with a relationship lost amongst affluence and drug fueled parties, Bailey must accept his own limitations and confront the demons of his past.

London 1818: a secret love affair begins between 23 year old English poet, John Keats, and the girl next door, Fanny Brawne, an outspoken student of fashion. This unlikely pair started at odds; he thinking her a stylish minx, she unimpressed by literature in general. It was the illness of Keats’ younger brother that drew them together. Keats was touched by Fanny’s efforts to help and found himself agreeing to teach her poetry. By the time Fanny’s alarmed mother and Keats’ best friend Brown realised their attachment, the relationship had an unstoppable momentum. Intensely and helplessly absorbed in each other, the young lovers were swept into powerful new sensations, “I have the feeling as if I were dissolving”, Keats wrote to her. Together they rode a wave of romantic obsession that deepened as their troubles mounted. Only Keats’ illness proved insurmountable.

In 1974, a hot-headed, 19 year old named Michael Peterson decided he wanted out of the drudgery of civilized society, and so, with a homemade sawn-off shotgun and a head full of dreams, he attempted to rob a post office. Swiftly apprehended and originally sentenced to 7 years in jail, Peterson has subsequently been behind bars for 34 years, 30 of which have been spent in solitary confinement. Assuming the celebrated stage name Charles Bronson, he has forged an outrageous reputation through hostage taking and rooftop protests to become a notorious figure in the public's consciousness.

Synopsis

Bunny and the Bull is a comedy road movie set entirely in a flat. Stephen Turnbull hasn't been outside in months, and when he finds his mind hurtling back to the disastrous trek around Europe he undertook with his friend Bunny a catalogue of adventures unfolds. Stephen's flat becomes the springboard for an extraordinary odyssey through lands made up of snapshots and souvenir replica landmarks within his imagination. Bunny and the Bull is a touching and beautiful journey to the end of the room.
