Synopsis

Donkeys is a bittersweet, tragi-comic tale. When Alfred learns of his impending death he realises it's time to make amends with his estranged family. However, before things get better they get a whole lot worse and a blast from the past injects calamity, comedy and confusion into Alfred's efforts.

When a strikingly beautiful but naïve young Dorian (Ben Barnes) arrives in Victorian London he is swept into a social whirlwind by the charismatic Henry Wotton (Colin Firth), who introduces Dorian to the hedonistic pleasures of the city. Henry’s friend, society artist Basil Hallward (Ben Chaplin) paints a portrait of Dorian to capture the full power of his youthful beauty and when it's unveiled Dorian makes a flippant pledge: he would give anything to stay as he is in the picture - even his soul. Dorian's wild adventures continue, but soon he notices that his portrait, which is now locked away in the attic, has taken on an evil and disturbing air, while his own beautiful face goes unmarked by his deeds. Forced by his own evil actions to flee the country, Dorian returns twenty-five years later. To the surprise of his old friends, he looks exactly the same but he's jaded, having found pleasure but never happiness and he's haunted by the monstrous painting in the attic. His fear and paranoia grow as rumours of his past misdeeds circulate. Will Dorian get one last chance for love and redemption and more importantly, will he escape with his life?

Alfie will play himself and his real son Paul will play his son in the film. Turned down by all the Financiers, Alfie vows to make the film himself. His life with his teenage son and his struggles to finance and make the film are all woven together in a series of mad-cap events concluding in a very British triumph.

Nursery teacher Jenny and her boyfriend Steve, escape for a romantic weekend away. Steve, planning to propose, has found an idyllic setting: a remote lake enclosed by woodlands and seemingly deserted. The couple's peace is shattered when a gang of obnoxious kids encircles their campsite. Revelling in provoking the adults, the gang steals the couple's belongings and vandalizes their car leaving them completely stranded. When Steve confronts them, tempers flare and he suffers a shocking and violent attack. Fleeing for help, Jenny is subject to a brutal and relentless game of cat-and-mouse as she desperately tries to evade her young pursuers and find her way out of the woods. Exhausted and distraught, she finally arrives back to the safety of the town. And meets the parents.
