Average White Band - Soul Searching

Synopsis

The remarkable true story of six working-class Scots who created some of the most enduring and influential soul and funk music of the 20th century. Rising from the clubs of Dundee to the top of the U.S. Billboard charts, Average White Band’s journey is one of extraordinary talent, cultural crossover, and resilience. Just as global fame beckoned, tragedy struck with the sudden death of drummer Robbie McIntosh - a devastating loss that would change the band forever.
Featuring electrifying archive performances and intimate new interviews with the surviving band members, alongside contributions from Chaka Khan, Michael McDonald, Mark Ronson, DJ Premier, Questlove, Chuck D, and Flavor Flav - the film explores how AWB, as one of the most sampled bands in history, left an indelible mark on hip hop, R&B, and popular music - influencing generations of artists.

You've Been Trumped You've Been Trumped

Director: Anthony Baxter

Year: 2012

In this David and Goliath tale for the 21st century, a group of proud Scottish homeowners take on Donald Trump, as he gets set to destroy one of Britain's last wilderness areas in order to build a luxury golf resort. We follow the local residents as they make their last stand in the face of security harassment, constant legal threats and the cutting off of their water and electricity supplies. Director Anthony Baxter himself becomes international news after being thrown in jail following an interview with Trump’s green keeper. Told entirely without narration, You've Been Trumped captures the cultural chasm between the glamorous, jet-setting and media savvy Donald Trump and a deeply rooted Scottish community. For the tycoon, the golf course is just another deal, with a possible billion dollar payoff. For the residents, it represents the destruction of a globally unique landscape that has been the backdrop for their lives.
