Inspired by Leos Janacek's Sinfonietta, Emma Calder's short story animated film The Queen's Monastery, is about a woman whose lover, a former acrobat, has returned to her from war a changed man. Using a highly individual water colour technique the narrative explores themes of love, escapist fantasy, obsession, jealousy and guilt.

Prior to being diagnosed with bowel cancer Richard Wright, an artist/animator, had a social media persona that was characterised by annoying and anarchic humour. After initially feeling unable to communicate at all, his general healing process became entwined with the resurrection of his social media presence.

Using an animated collage of found objects from Norwich Castle Museum and the banks of the River Thames the film looks at Boudica the woman, what motivated her to keep her freedom and what her story means to us now that we know so much more from recent archaeology.
