Bill Bailey's Little Cracker: CARPARK BABYLON

Synopsis

I was trapped in a car park on Christmas Eve with a car full of presents.

It was a freak occurrence the two pound coins landed equidistant in the slot and wouldn't drop. There was a Call For Help button on the machine, I pressed it and a voice emanated from the machine, I will send someone to assist you. Almost immediately, Mr Benn-like, a man appeared. Calmly he reset the machine, gave me back my coins and disappeared. But now, so much time had elapsed, that I owed more money and I didn't have any more change I pressed the Call For Help button again and the remote car park controller announced: I've sent a credit to machine 25, Merry Christmas. I replied, it's machine 24, but I was too late.

As I stood, staring at my machine, I heard the couple at the machine opposite chatting, he was called Joe, she was called Maria, it was their first Christmas together, they didn't have quite enough change. Then she said, Wow, free ticket today, must be a Christmas thing!
