Blood Road

Synopsis

Based on extracts from the novel The Book of Israel, director Temple Clark has woven together a glimpse into two generations of a Jewish family decades apart.

Lithuania, 1886, a police sergeant and his companion return from their stations. The sergeant finds himself contemplating the hardship of his life. Stranded on the side of the road, the two officers seek shelter in a Jewish-owned inn. There, they drink, reminisce and play cards with some soldiers - loosing their money and the sergeant’s coat. The next morning, walking through the fields they encounter a Jewish boy on his way home and beat him up in frustration. Sixty years later, the boy’'s grandson, arrives in post-war Berlin, falls for a local girl and finds acceptance and love.
