Project Detail

Complicit

Synopsis

In fighting the War on Terror is torture ever justified? Or do we risk losing everything we stand for as a democratic nation by allying ourselves with the brutal torturers of foreign dictatorships?
David Oyelowo (The Paperboy, Red Tails, Return of the Planet of the Apes) stars as a British intelligence officer caught up in the moral complexities of fighting the war on terror in a compelling new thriller from acclaimed writer Guy Hibbert (Blood and Oil, Five Minutes of Heaven, Omagh).
Complicit follows the trail of Edward (Oyelowo) an MI5 officer desperate to foil another 7/7 style atrocity planned by British terror suspect Waleed (Arsher Ali – Four Lions, Beaver Falls). Wrestling with that key moral dilemma of our time, Edward tears up the rule book and makes an irrevocable decision. The consequences of Edward’s fateful moral choice are swift as his boss at MI5 (BAFTA winner Monica Dolan – Appropriate Adult) distances her Secret Service from Edward’s actions despite the heightened terror threat.
Complicit, informed by extensive research in the intelligence world, is a penetrating insight into the dangerous world of MI5 and counter terrorism.
