Project Detail

Dömestik

Synopsis

The film explores the notion of space, how we might go about describing and measuring it on a human scale. A light lament to the pseudo domestic furniture showroom, it's also about how we interact with our homes and each other. An observation of the public at home in public.

A still from the film depicting a dancer being shadow projected Adage

Director: Jack Barrett

Year: 2025

Adage is a ballet term which refers to a slow and graceful sequence of movements - in this film artist/ filmmaker Jack Barrett seeks to juxtapose this with disorientating abstraction caused by process and editing. Barrett utilises risograph, mono-print, shadow projection and manual point tracking to create varying levels of abstraction, in turn playing with our associated perception of movement. Official Selection Annecy International Film Festival 2026
