Kevin & Perry tells the sentimental and beautiful story of how two hormonally challenged teenagers set off for the exotic island paradise of Ibiza in search of love and, from what they've heard, an absolutely definitely certain possible probability of having sex. Determined to lose their virginity at all costs, Kevin and his ever-present partner in crime, Perry let nothing stand in their way as they scour this island of lustful opportunity and legendary clubs, for two easy going, up for it, chicks and to achieve their ambition of becoming DJ mix-masters.

When Harry Enfield set out to transfer his comedy series from television to the big screen, he thought the best way to reach a wide audience would be via the characters of the two hopeless teenage boys played by himself and actress Kathy Burke: "Of our TV characters Kevin and Perry are the most international, encompassing a universal idea: 'I must get a shag or I'll be a virgin for life.'"

Comedy director Ed Bye was recruited to direct, while Enfield wrote the script with long-time collaborator David Cummings. Sending Kevin and Perry to the teen holiday mecca of Ibiza seemed logical. "Ibiza represents a rite of passage for a lot of kids," says Bye.

The Ibizan club scene provides a key plot strand in which Kevin and Perry pursue celebrity DJ Eye Ball Paul (Rhys Ifans) and attempt to become mixmasters. It also offers a good hook for a soundtrack album, with a mix of current Ibiza hits and specially-commissioned tunes put together with the help of real-life star DJ Judge Jules.

But Ibiza was far from ideal for Burke when filming there at the end of the summer. She had to deal with the heat while wearing all the paraphernalia needed to transform her into a credible teenage boy. "I'm really suffering for my art on this one -- a lot more than I ever did on Nil By Mouth," jokes Burke. "I also discovered I don't suffer from penis envy. This jockstrap contraption with a block of wood was incredibly uncomfortable."

Kevin & Perry Go Large has grossed some £10m in the UK since its release in April.

A disillusioned TV personality accepts a drunken bet that he cannot hitch-hike around the entire circumference of Ireland, accompanied by his fridge. He embarks on a bizarre, funny and at times uncomfortable journey, which opens his eyes to a more relaxed way of life, beyond the confines of his cosy London media world. Along the way, he falls in love with a feisty radio reporter, encounters a philosophical toiletries salesman and takes his fridge surfing.
