Synopsis
One day, Kyla moves into the block. Like Jamal, she is in a vulnerable and unstable condition. Jamal is smitten but later crushed when her ‘boyfriend’ Slim appears. He blames his meds for his inadequacies and stops taking them.
Increasingly unstable, traumatic memories of his past surface and he begins to have delusions about Kyla’s safety. In a bid for redemption, spurred on by the voices, Jamal has a psychotic meltdown.
After a spell on a psychiatric ward, Jamal is discharged and returns to the block to start rebuilding his life. However, the presence of a deteriorating Kyla still disturbs him and he begins to spiral out of control again. He must learn to embrace his voices or continue to be diminished by them.
