Gods of Their Own Religion

A young woman wearing augmented reality glasses in a dark dystopian sci-fi environment, calm and defiant under implied surveillance.

Synopsis

In a dystopian near-future Britain, where safety has become the governing ideology, a defiant band of outsiders refuses to conform. Living on the margins of a tightly controlled society, they form forbidden connections while evading a system built to monitor, predict, and silence dissent. As they resist, they are hunted by a state intent on pre-empting rebellion before it can take hold. Paranoia spreads as resistance intensifies, fracturing the fragile boundary between trust and deception.
Shot without a script, budget, or official permission, GODS OF THEIR OWN RELIGION is an experimental independent film blending dystopian science fiction with guerrilla filmmaking to create a raw, immersive portrait of control, rebellion, and human connection. Created during COVID-19 lockdown conditions, the film reflects on isolation, compliance, and control in modern society.
