Harrigan

Synopsis

Amongst the Desperation and fear growing in a crime ridden sink estate in northern England, one man becomes involved into saving what little decency and community life exists. It's the winter of 1974 power cuts and coal strikes cripple the country, which is reduced to a 3 day working week alongside Police 'centralisation'. Everything it seems is falling apart along with the community's only hope and protector, the nearly retired Detective Sergeant Barry Harrigan.

The real events surrounding the sudden economic collapse of British Entrepreneur Sir Freddie Laker who had dared to take on the elite giants with his pioneering low cost ‘peoples airline’ Skytrain, and the resulting billion dollar Grand Jury case in Washington DC between 1983-1985. Faced with the US and UK governments lead by Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, their collusion was far greater than Laker could have possibly imagined, most dramatically when the leaders declared the need to protect ‘national interests’. Their strained father-son relationship unfolds in front of customers. When a group of drunk, racist customers enter the takeaway tensions escalate further.
