Half Memory
Director: Ufuoma Essi
Year: 2024
Using Toni Morrison’s ‘The Site of Memory’ as a starting point for interrogation, HALF MEMORY is a languid meditation on memory, conurbations, isolation, and the histories we live among. Oscillating between years, cities, and unfolding images, the film is an examination of the present as an artefact of the past. Shot on Super8 and filmed between the US, France and the UK over a period of years. Official Selection BFI London Film Festival 2025
Pastoral Malaise
Director: Ufuoma Essi
Year: 2022
A meditative reflection on the absences found in rural pastoral environments, which are often framed by a false romanticism and picturesque conventions, constructed as tourist sites within rural landscapes across Britain.
TUTU
Director: Sam Pollard
Year: 2026
The South African cleric Desmond Tutu was more than just an archbishop, he was a moral compass, a fearless champion of justice and a global beacon of hope for a more peaceful future. TUTU reveals the man behind the icon through previously unpublished archive footage and first-hand accounts from those who walked beside him. The film traces Tutu’s rise as the unwavering voice of the oppressed. In the face of brutality, he stood resolute, guided by faith, fuelled by hope and driven by an unshakable belief in the humanity of all people. At its heart, this is a story of the transformative power of forgiveness, a message from which Tutu never wavered.
