Lie With Me

Synopsis

Thirty-three year old Chris Hopkins has a wife, child and works 9 to 5 in a respectable office job. Resentful of his mundane existence, he believes his son to be a burden and struggles to look at his wife with lust after 15 years under the same roof. He feels like something is missing and longs for change. Surfing adult sex sites when he should be working, he soon discovers a woman that he truly connects with. She listens to his problems, dresses like he wishes his wife would and she likes to talk dirty. How long can he hold out before fantasy and reality collide?

Lie With Me is an erotic thriller that explores the seedy world of adult sex sites and the consequences of one man's journey to find sexual fulfilment.

This 20-minute digital short film was shot on the increasingly popular Canon 5D Mk2 camera with a budget of less than £1,500.00. It is writer/director Nick Padley's debut short film and was shot entirely in West Yorkshire.

Director: Leo Metcalf

Year: 2024

Olly sifts through his memories searching to understand why he is the way he is. The narrative swings between two contrasting worlds: his memories of his first years, captured by his childhood drawings, and surreal underwater live-action scenes representing his dreams. We witness fragmented memories of a torn family - an abusive father, a mother whose memory seems faded, and a sister, Sally, encouraging her little brother to escape through imagination and dreams. As memory and fantasy blur, The Time Before becomes a meditation on the stories we tell ourselves to survive, and what is lost in the telling. Official Selection Aesthetica Film Festival 2024
