Synopsis

Mr. Turner explores the last quarter century of the great, if eccentric, British painter JMW Turner (1775-1851). Profoundly affected by the death of his father and loved by a housekeeper he takes for granted and exploits sexually, he forms a close relationship with a seaside landlady with whom he eventually lives incognito in Chelsea.

A drama based on events surrounding the infamous 1819 Peterloo Massacre, where British forces fired on a peaceful pro-democracy rally at St Peter's Field in Manchester. <br /> The notorious massacre saw British government forces charge into a crowd of 60,000 that had to demand political reform.
