MEAN TIME considers photography as a product of looking at and thinking about, the world prefigured on separating or shuttering it. <br /> MEAN TIME is also the calculation of solar time and the experience of, or feeling about, a certain period of time as being troubled or unjust.

Referring to the printing-press and Derrida’s concept of erasure from his book 'Of Grammatology' the monologue was written, and voiced, by Gayatri Spivak, translator of 'Of Grammatology'.<br /> The film features a petroglyph of a car at ‘Writing-on Stone’ or Áísínai'pi in the language of the Blackfoot nation means “it is pictured”.

Commissioned by LUX and Collective Gallery.<br /> <br /> 'Fib' is the Pictish name for the contemporary Scottish region known as The Kingdom of 'Fife'. It also means a trivial or white lie. <br /> <br /> Filmed at locations in Fife, the film focuses on two census takers and considers the resulting information and actions as ‘factish’.
