South West Nine

Synopsis

SW9, Brixton. Nowhere else in Britain has such a diversity of characters. Nowhere else has the madness of a true street culture. Riots, Guns, Drugs. These are the ingredients of the old Brixton. Throw in yuppies, clubbers, scammers, Internet Anarchists and Britain's most 'kicking' clubs and this is the new Brixton. Vibrant, Colourful, Exotic. South West Nine is the first movie to take a roller-coaster ride through this extraordinary square mile.

Five very different characters are thrown together in one weird, mashed up day. It started out just like any other, but 24 hours later everything had changed.

South West Nine takes you through the widescreen of the new millennium. The death of idealism, capitalism, religion and hippies. Even the drugs don't work any more. The 'summer of love' generation have come down and they're ready to riot. Seattle, Stockholm, Paris, Genoa. May Day Riots. Disunited Kingdom. The Internet is informing today's youth about the behaviour of the multinationals. And they're not happy. Punchy, provocative with a healthy dose of cynical humour. It's all kicking off.

I Believe Me (AKA Catching my Rapist) I Believe Me (AKA Catching my Rapist)

Director: Richard Parry

Year: 2023

This intimate documentary follows the story of one woman's extraordinary struggle over five years to bring the man who raped her to justice - a man accused of scores of assaults and rapes against women who applied for work at his London escort agency. Part of the BAFTA-winning Exposure strand, the film follows "Sam" with complete access to her story - from revealing her rape, through 18 months in a safe house and botched police investigations, to her discovery of other victims and crucial evidence. Finally, after thirteen years of abuses and many untold victims, her assailant was arrested and charged on 37 counts - including four of rape and assault by penetration against Sam and her friend "Gabrielle". A nine-week landmark trial ensued in October last year. This is a roller-coaster story with a climactic ending that features a close up and personal account, through the eyes of one brave woman who finds out just how hard it can be to fight for justice.

The Jungle The Jungle

Director: Richard Parry

Year: 2018

10,000 people from all corners of a shattered World. Afghans and Sudanese dominate with Syrians, Eritreans, Iraqis and more. The Jungle is unique. Rich in cultural diversity, religion and language, yet fiscally impoverished. A magnet for thousands of British volunteers wanting to help. It is the shore on which the waves of our own foreign policy wash up and an icon for fears about mass immigration.<br /> We filmed migrants and refugees here for two years, trying to survive this shanty-town in the heart of Europe. Through floods, fires and evictions, right up to the bitter end: Human stories that echo the biggest question of our time.
