The Foreigner

Synopsis

Quan, an ex-Viet Cong fighter, has escaped to the United Kingdom with his daughter and become the proud owner of the Double Happiness Chinese Takeaway. He has quietly started settling into middle age - until a resurgent IRA bomb rips through a Knightsbridge store, killing his daughter instantly. Heartbroken, Quan asks the authorities for justice. But when the authorities fob him off, Quan decides to take matters into his own hands, and travels to Ireland to extract revenge.
However, the bombings are the work of an unsanctioned IRA unit, operating against the wishes of the now-retired IRA old guard, or at least, most of them. Determined to find out who is behind the bombings, one of the ex-IRA leaders, Liam Hennessy, sets a trap for the splinter unit. Amidst the politics, lies and double-crosses, Quan and Hennessy find themselves fighting against each other, but with the same aim: to bring the bombers to justice.
Adaptation of Stephen Leather's best-selling novel 'The Chinaman'.

Casino Royale Casino Royale

Director: Martin Campbell

Year: 2007

Introducing James Bond before he holds his licence to kill. His first 007 mission takes him to Madagascar where he is to spy on a terrorist, Mollaka. Not everything goes to plan and Bond decides to investigate, independently of MI6, in order to track down the rest of the terrorist cell. Following a lead to the Bahamas, he encounters Dimitrios and his girlfriend, Solange. He learns that Dimitrios is involved with Le Chiffre, banker to the world's terrorist organisations. Secret Service intelligence reveals that Le Chiffre is planning to raise money in a high-stakes poker game in Montenegro at Le Casino Royale. MI6 assigns 007 to play against him, knowing that if Le Chiffre loses, it will destroy the organisation. M places Bond under the watchful eye of the beguiling Vesper Lynd. Bond's interest in Vesper deepens as they brave danger together and even torture at the hands of Le Chiffre. In Montenegro, Bond allies himself with Mathis, MI6's local field agent, and Felix Leiter, who is representing the interests of the CIA. The marathon game proceeds with dirty tricks and violence, raising the stakes beyond blood money and reaching a terrifying climax.

Galicia! Galicia!

Director: Anna Maguire, Kyle Greenberg

Year: 2026

What if you went on a holiday and the apocalypse happened? GALICIA! is a found-footage, hybrid-documentary following a couple through home video footage as they visit their friends at a winery in rural Spain and inadvertently capture the end of days. We live in a time where the sense of our impending mutually assured destruction is more real than it’s ever been. GALICIA! Takes the form of a holiday video - a document of a couple before - and after the great cataclysm. The film starts as something that feels unedited - an accidental video diary of an ordinary couple that feels somewhat ghostly as much as it is also pedestrian. As the film evolves and degrades, we are led to question the fragility of humanity, as well as its power to endure.
