Synopsis

The Valley is a journey deep into the killing fields of Kosovo, at the height of the carnage in September 1998 - months before NATO bombs fell. Uniquely, The Valley views the conflict from both sides, through the eyes of men and women trapped in Kosovo's bloodiest combat zone : the Drenica ('Dre-nee-tsa') Valley.

Leaving Neverland Leaving Neverland

Director: Dan Reed

Year: 2019

When allegations of sexual abuse by Michael Jackson involving young boys surfaced in 1993, many found it hard to believe that the King of Pop could be guilty of such unspeakable acts.
In separate but parallel stories, James Safechuck (10) and Wade Robson (7) were each befriended by Jackson, who invited them into his singular, fairy-tale world as his career reached its peak. Their families were unaware of the manipulation and abuse he would subject the boys to over a period of years.
Through gut-wrenching interviews with the now-adult men and their families, LEAVING NEVERLAND crafts a portrait of sustained exploitation, deception and the complicated feelings that led both men to confront their abuse only once they each had had a young son of their own.
Playing out against the backdrop of our collective experience, the film documents the value of breaking a long-held silence, even when it implicates a powerful, revered figure.
Official Selection Sundance Film Festival 2019 - Special Events programme - World premiere

Straightheads Straightheads

Director: Dan Reed

Year: 2006

This is the feature debut of award-winning conflict documentary maker Dan Reed. With Straightheads, a product of his own post-traumatic stress after experiences in Kosovo and South Africa, Reed has created a dark and twisted tale which rips two ordinary people from their comfort zone and propels them on a mission of violence and revenge.

Returning from a night of partying in a lavish country house, a fateful encounter catapults Alice and Adam into the path of a brutal and unprovoked attack which leaves them both emotionally and physically scarred.

Unable to overcome the trauma, and with the police incapable of bringing their attackers to justice, the couple decide the only possible path to recovery is revenge, of the purest variety: an eye for an eye. But when closing in on their victim, they discover an unexpected motive behind their own attack.
