Synopsis

Biracial, working class teenager Marian Elliott creates a bombastic punk alter ego Poly Styrene to front her band X-Ray Spex – with a voice powerful enough to cut through sheet metal she sings about identity and consumerism. The media quickly latch on but the pressures of becoming a music industry product force a profound realisation – all she really wants to be is herself.
