Synopsis

Mary Lennox is a troubled, sickly, orphaned 10-year-old girl, sent to live with an uncle after her parents died in a cholera outbreak in India. Initially sour and rude, Mary begins to explore the grounds of her uncle’s estate and befriends a robin. Mary hears of a locked-away, hidden garden. Together with the robin, she finds the key and enters the garden, discovering it to be more magical than she could have ever imagined.

Synopsis

Swandown is a travelogue and odyssey of Olympian ambition. A poetic film-diary about encounter and culture. It is also an endurance test and pedal-marathon. Andrew Kötting (the filmmaker) and Iain Sinclair (the writer) pedal a plastic swan-shaped pedalo from the seaside in Hastings to Hackney in East London, via the English inland waterways. This action may, in part be seen as an act of ‘dada performance’ or as a response to the spirit of Olympic diversity and ambition. The journey and all that it entails is documented on both film and video and presented as a 90-minute feature length experimental documentary.

Her film 'Self Made' documents the intense, revealing and sometimes disturbing experiences of seven people who sign up for the project. They take part in a series of workshops led by Method acting teacher Sam Rumbelow, who uses different techniques to help them access their memories and personal experiences so that each participant can create a vivid and authentic moment of performance. Gradually, we see five members of the group working towards their own individual end scenes, filmed dramatic vignettes that directly emerge from their personal histories. The scenes range from episodes of violence, to images of imagined love, via an excerpt from Shakespeare's King Lear. As the lights finally go off in the studio, the participants leave the experiment having for the first time confronted and articulated deep truths about themselves.

Casey thinks that if he finds his dad everything will be alright. The police and social services think that Casey is a criminal. H thinks Casey is off his head, but Casey just thinks they should be a family.
