Documenting the band Dexys Midnight Runners celebrated residency at the Duke Of York's Theatre in London, April 2013. The film captures songs from those theatrical shows, weaved amongst music and interviews with vocalist Kevin Rowland and musician James Paterson.

Formed in 1974 by a group of school friends from Croydon, Johnny Moped were the band fronted by, and named after the enigmatic Paul Halford (aka Johnny Moped). By 1977 the group found themselves at the heart of the burgeoning punk scene in London and for a brief moment even looked like contenders.

Despite being able to count both Chrissie Hynde and Captain Sensible as past members, success was not to come their way and Johnny Moped are now largely forgotten - punk rock’s great lost band!

Their story is however a fascinating one that, along with some of the era’s most innovative music deserves to be heard.

How We Used To Live is effectively a prequel to Finisterre, a meditation on London life today and a glance back at a receding Britain. Using colour footage from the 1950s to the 1980s, taken from the BFI National Archive, the film covers the ‘New Elizabethan’ age from the optimism of the post-war era to the dawn of Thatcherism. Soundtracked by Saint Etienne’s Pete Wiggs and scripted by the band’s Bob Stanley with Travis Elborough, the film is for anyone who has ever tried to understand their city. Alluringly impressionistic, poetic and political, this is the most joyful and entertaining offering yet from a unique filmmaking collective.

As lead singer with Felt, Lawrence was responsible for some of the most precious music of the 1980s. On touchstone indie labels such as Cherry Red and Creation, the band released ten albums and ten singles - one for each year of the decade. Paul Kelly's intimate, smart doc portrait, a labour of love filmed over the last eight years, follows Lawrence between Go Kart Mozart albums, weighed down by the chips on his shoulders while still dreaming of being a pop star who rides in limousines and dates supermodels.

This is Tomorrow is the latest collaboration between film-maker Paul Kelly and pop band Saint Etienne, and is the result of the year they spent as artists in residence at the Royal Festival Hall. It is a journey into the past and the future of this internationally renowned and much-loved architectural space and its epic refurbishment. The film features interviews with people who have made major contributions to the building and its architecture, including designer Robin Day, original architects Trevor Dannatt and Jim Cadbury-Brown, Southbank Centre's current artistic director Jude Kelly, artist Jeremy Deller and author Alain De Botton as well as builders, manufacturers, local residents and Southbank Centre staff.

Digitally shot and edited, Finisterre evolved alongside the album of the same name. Initially conceived as a way of channelling the money allocated to pop promos into something more substantial, it became in every sense an independent production. Its development is unique: early sequences were projected as live visuals behind the band on their last tour, while the film has played recently to cinema audiences in London, Madrid, Vancouver and Tokyo.
 

Synopsis

They have been hangouts for bohemians, bikers and office boys, but the classic London cafe - steamy, formica-clad, with wooden banquettes and booths - is fast disappearing as rents rise and tastes change. These three films follow four cafes on the verge of closure: They are worlds of their own, a form of social club for the regulars who have been going there for twenty years, and an imtegral part of London culture that may not be around much longer.
