Synopsis

Sixteen-year-old Pema lives in the remote mountains of Tibet. For generations, her family has farmed their barley fields in peace. But when Pema’s father is taken away by the authorities, her world is shattered. A Buddhist nun from the local nunnery walks into Pema’s life and invites her to join a group of locals escaping persecution by walking over the Himalayas, into India. Pema is torn: can she leave her mother, grandmother and younger siblings at this time of crisis? Has she the right, or the courage, to join her friend and seek a new life for herself? As Pema struggles with her dilemma, there is no news about her imprisoned father. The clock is ticking, for everyone. A film about the price of freedom and who pays for it, told through the eyes of a teenage girl. Shot entirely on location in the Himalayas with a non-professional cast, and made by filmmakers determined to give a voice to the oppressed of Tibet through a universal story about the love of parents for their children.

Synopsis

Mike, a young American traveller in his early twenties arrives at an airport in Spain, to meet his best friend Casey, who traveled ahead. After travelling over dusty terrain to a bar in a sweltering, isolated village, Mike meets a mysterious, beautiful Spanish woman, Lucia. With no sign of Casey, Mike goes back to Lucia's house sitting on the edge of the town, where he starts showing the effects of mild sunstroke. However, the next day, with no word from Casey, Mike tries to leave, but Lucia is resistant and convinces him to stay a little longer. The next morning, a disturbed Mike slips out of bed quietly, leaving the house just before dawn. Taking a wrong turn Mike gets lost and realises he is being followed. In blind panic, he runs, but this ultimately leaves him needing Lucia's help once more. Eventually, he discovers what has happened to his friend Casey. The full horror proves to be more disturbing than anyone could have ever imagined.
