Synopsis

20 July 1969. Two men dressed as astronauts chat in a room. They are Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, in the preparations for an important space mission on the moon. However, a fundamental detail emerges gradually from their dialogue: the mission is not really a trip to the moon.

Together with Possum, a hideous hand-puppet, disgraced puppeteer Philip returns to his childhood home. Staying with his cruel stepfather, Maurice, Philip soon discovers that ridding himself of Possum is no easy task. When his attempts to destroy the demonic puppet fail, Philip suspects Maurice of manipulating Possum to cause him further distress. As their relationship deteriorates, repressed memories of a traumatic childhood start to resurface. When a local child goes missing and the police suspect him of the crimes, Philip is forced to confront the nightmares of his past and discovers that the real demon lurks much closer to home. Synopsis

Charlie is a zoo-head, addicted to a powerful hallucinogenic with memory crunching side-effects. He is forced by the authorities to enter a radically experimental rehabilitation treatment designed to recover his memories and put his mind back to how it was before he became addicted. The system crashes and he becomes trapped in horrifying memory loops. Haunted by childhood traumas, Charlie’s psyche repeatedly shuts down in defence, only to reboot with increasingly disturbing recurrences. His girlfriend Megan, herself a recovering addict, reveals the depth of her feeling for him and Charlie realises he actually has something precious to live for. But it may be too late as the twists and turns of the extreme visions intensify, potentially destroying his mind for good. Unless the desperate efforts to save him can succeed.
