Synopsis

Despite having excellent witness descriptions of possible suspects, vain and uncompromising police detective Fred Andrews becomes increasingly frustrated by his lack of success into a traumatic series of missing persons investigations.
 
Fearful that he is replicating the errors of a previously botched-up police investigation, narcisistic Andrews deduces that a mysterious white van is the key to unwinding this growing police debacle, and more importantly the platform for his own meteoric rise throught the ranks. As the number of abductions increase, key suspects are progressively eliminated, egos clash and tempers fray until the self-centred detective eventually zeros in on his nemesis. In the final confrontation, Andrews realises that capturing the psychotic killer will almost certainly rocket his career, but it will fail miserably, to bring true justice to the missing souls.

Synopsis

Zohra is a coming of age short film about family independence and growing up. Based on a real event – in 1960 it follows the an 18 year girl, Zohra, from Karachi to London. Under pressure from her brothers, looking for “a better life at her Majesty’s invitation” Zohra arrives in Britain. She soon realises the chasm of culture between and the England and the rest of the world and how it can be bridged. The film is based on the true experiences of young settler, Zohra Naseem Akhtar Bem, in sixties London who was a leading figure for race relations in the seventies.

Natalie and Adam sing their love for one another. After work they meet a mysterious woman. She gives them a special candle and then disappears. They make their way home and then make love. Next morning tired and late, they decide to run to work, when a drunk driver kills Adam. Months later, Natalie (now pregnant) has a remembrance dinner and from a the special candle comes a shadow of the dead man. The shadow follows her around and tries to get her attention, but is unable to until it lies beside her in bed. She reaches out and thinks she feels its presence. As soon as this happens, the candle goes out and the shadow disappears. All she wishes is for her husband to be back with her again. A little time later, Natalie gives birth to a boy who is her late husband reborn. And so she gets her wish.

A Documentary on Women’s experience of Punk.

The present media interest in the 70’s is a pre punk; US dominated vision of the era. The UK experience was of a decadent hippie movement and the apolitical skinhead movement being swept aside by punk. This programme reassesses from a punk women’s perspective, women’s role in this dynamic movement that irreversibly changed the face of society, politics art and music.

Synopsis

Most of the source footage for “Camouflage with White Shirt” is selected from “Man with a Mission”, a TV documentary about Tony Blair. For the first six minutes, image and sound are cut and alternated to create a flicker effect with a rhythmic soundtrack, only snatches of it intelligible.

The second part offsets Blair inspecting troops against Hugh Grant making his famous speech from “Love Actually”. In the third part, Peter Mandelson’s voice is heard praising Blair, against a shot of a wall in Berlin with an anti US/UK slogan painted on it in English.

Sequences of frames, sampled from a Big Brother broadcast on Channel 4 television, are repeated three times each in rhythmic succession.

Nothing is slowed down or speeded up, but movement becomes unreal and fractured, parts of spoken words tumble out into a new stream of image and sound, and 'reality television' begins to look like Pop Art.

Fiennes inventive direction places Zizek within the film moments he is analysing. He is "a genuinely interesting thinker" and "Oh what a brilliantly entertaining host Zizek turns out to be." The brings Zizek's post Freudian psychoanalytic interpretations to some of the more celebrated work in the history of cinema, including David Lynch, Tarkovsky and Hitchcock.
