Synopsis

Matthew Carlson believes himself to be insane. Whenever threatened with the remote possibility of being exposed to humiliation, stress mounts and he fantasises an act of extreme maladjusted behaviour to distract himself and so relieves himself from the burden of his worried mind. He began dealing with social situations in this way from age eleven, and so over the years has become convinced, and quite comfortable with, the notion that he is indeed a psychopath. At age ten, Matthew was sexually abused by his father. Shortly afterwards, his mother killed herself. Matthew has spent his life obsessing about being insane to distract himself from this past, and buries it away deep within himself so that he can function better in his adult life, and with his friends and at work. As Matthew's past begins to uncontrollably force its way back into his conscious mind, he looks for something further to drive it back into the dark depths of his psyche. This is a story of what someone actually thinks as opposed to what they say and do. This is a man who fears Limescale might be accumulating inside of him. This is the story of Matthew Carlson.

Kevin (Stuart Brennan) has landed himself a days work with painter and decorator Ian (Tom Wontner). Kevin is very keen to become 'mates' , but the cold-hearted Ian is having none of it. Zoë Verne is a regular at Club Dis, the city's hottest subculture superclub. But late one evening she leaves distraught, and is set upon by four dark figures. All she hears is a snarl - she's dead before she can scream. Detective Alex Taylor has it all, but he's losing it fast. His career is on a downward spiral; his fiancée is a stranger to him; and now he's handling Zoë's death - seemingly killed by a wild animal - but the closer he looks, the more the ground falls from beneath his feet. Forensic evidence shows Zoë was addicted to a drug derived from a fungus called Ergot. During the Dark Ages, whole villages were driven mad by eating infected wheat, giving rise to the myth of the Werewolf. Alex suspects Zoë's death is related to this drug, and that the owner of Club Dis is involved, preying on his clientele, luring them into addiction, prostitution and worse. The manager tells Alex nothing; but one of the regulars takes Alex in. At first Alex is appalled by the decadence and free expression. But the more Alex experiences, the more he is drawn into this new life. But more deaths occur, implicating the owner’s female lieutenants - and Alex realises he's in more danger than he'd imagined. Alex returns to Club Dis to bring the owner and his girls to justice, but soon finds himself facing an even greater dilemma than he had ever feared.

Making Waves is a romantic comedy about a group of disparate ham-radio enthusiasts. These include a lonely video-store owner, a drunken Russian cosmonaut marooned on the space station Mir, a paranoid conspiracy nut, a Californian surfer and an elderly Welsh priest. Two of them exaggerate who they are on the air-waves assuming they'll never actually bump into each other. Unfortunately, when they fall in love with each other's imaginary personas things start to get complicated - especially when they find themselves having to meet face-to-face and are forced to try and live up to their fictitious alter-egos.
