Synopsis

A cataclysmic event has blackened the sky plunging the earth into an endless winter. Toxic clouds have turned the rain to acid, crops can't grow and the human race is all but extinct. Deep in the dying forest a young man (JAKE) and his FATHER eke out an existence scavenging the wreckage of the former world. Though their lives are bleak they have each other. When Jake's girlfriend is struck down by an infection, everything falls apart. A group of violent cannibals descend on their safe haven and murder Father. Jake is forced to abandon the camp in search of medicine and embark on a treacherous journey, battling the elements, wild dogs and fighting his Father's murderers to the death. He must make it back in time to save his girlfriend or he loses everything.

Synopsis

A debt ridden down on their luck couple decide to take control of their destiny by kidnapping a backbench politician. Only there’s one big problem - his wife refuses to pay the ransom. However, just as they’re about to let him go, he offers to pay the money himself as long as they keep him hostage, knowing how good the publicly is for his political profile. A taught, satirical chamber piece for our current times.

Synopsis

October 2019, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk (UK). Three months before Brexit. Hundreds of Portuguese migrant workers pour into town, seeking work at the local turkey factories. Tania, who calls herself The Mother of the Portuguese, is a former worker in these factories. She is now married to an Englishman and works as a facilitator, arranging for new arrivals from Portugal to be accommodated in her husband's decaying hotels. She dreams of transforming these hotels into refurbished retirement homes, and the tragic death of a worker who owed her husband money only makes her more desperate to change her life. But when the worker's brother arrives in town seeking answers, Tania finds herself unexpectedly attracted to him, and she must decide where her loyalties lie.

Synopsis

What do a peak fitness racehorse and a traumatised ex-soldier have in common? Both have been taught to do one thing well, and both are hyper-vigilant, reacting to the smallest stimulus. This documentary follows two infantry ex-soldiers over two years, from their first encounter with the horses until they emerge with a new sense of who they are and who they can be. At its heart, this is a film about how we can start again.

Two hands, Glynid and Hynus, are trapped together indoors. As they talk, we learn that they are waiting for a virus wreaking havoc in the outer world. Glynid is an anxiety-riddled know–it–all who dogmatically follows ‘the science,’ while Hynus is an ignoramus whose nonsensical belligerence highlights their absurd situation. They argue over what precautions to take, what the statistics mean, and how to pass the time. Endless desperate moves ensue as the pair attend a virtual Shibari workshop, create pubic hair art, compose a virus-themed anthem, and partake in cleansings and poisonings, before remembering they have a child that they may have accidentally left outside. Deciding to leave to find the child, they stay. This puppet show, drawing from Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, satirizes the Covid-19 era. Connected to the outside by a window that doubles as a screen, what begins as a waiting game soon unravels into paranoiac exchanges, conspiratorial musings, and bouts of reflection that lead to self–loathing in one hand and self–care in the other. As the objects that once held meaning to them disappear while they wait, a new reality grows around them, if only they had eyes to see it.

It captures the heady exhilaration of glam rock mania through the experiences of a group of over-excited kids from a local children's home before a devastating road accident changes their lives for ever. Years later, and still clinging to the adoration of her childhood idol, survivor Penny takes best friend and fellow Marc Bolan fan to visit his shrine in London but a chance encounter there catapults her back to the horror she had tried so hard to forget. BOLAN'S SHOES is a joyful celebration of Seventies culture and brims with the energy of that vibrant era but, like Marc Bolan's legacy, it's retro glitter is dimmed by the tragic repercussions of that deadly road accident. Light-hearted comedy and supernatural chills abound in this inspirational story that explores the enduring legacy of childhood trauma and the life-affirming power of music.

Forced out of their home to face life on the streets, young lovers Sophie and her singer/songwriter husband Paul must fight to keep their love, dreams and music alive... Since losing her job to Covid-19, Sophie is now manager come roadie come photographer for her wannabe rock-star husband Paul. Swindled out of money and cancelled gigs these young lovers find themselves in debt and priced out of their hometown - London. Leaving London behind they head to the coast to stay with a mate but things don’t work out and to top it off their beloved 2CV car gets towed away and they have to give up their beloved black labrador Maisy. With heavy hearts but never losing their sense of humour or love for each other they spend their first night sleeping outside under the stars. But life on the streets quickly loses its romantic appeal as they are faced with choices that threaten to change their lives. Forever.

And yet, we are fractured , out of sync with nature. We have sacrificed significance for speed. More and more of us want to slow down, take stock, savour life, but are swept along in the world’s frantic pace. How do we step out of this? How do we find meaning in our finite lives? MAKING TIME is about how we experience time, told through the lens of five horologists, whose creations measure time in sure and steady beats. Their stories reveal something about how to live and how to use our time well. They tell what it means to search deep to find your purpose and follow your dream. And they speak to us about alchemy. Alchemy in the transformation of dull raw materials into valuable golden objects certainly, but deeper still, in the transformation of experience - sorrow, loss, love - into art. The pulse of the timepieces they create synchronises with the pulse running through all of life.

MOMENT OF GRACE is a story about empowerment, set Halifax, Yorkshire, it tells a story of the kind of people you would usually stay clear of, yet underlines that even when a life seem lost and hopeless, it can be touched by a moment of grace that changes everything.

Synopsis

Hank, a loveable dog with a head full of dreams about becoming a great samurai, sets off in search of his destiny. Unfortunately for him, what he finds instead is the strange and unwelcoming town of Kakamucho. There, he sticks out like a sore thumb, for he is a dog and everyone else is...a cat! And as we all know, cats really, REALLY don't like dogs. Desperate to please the townsfolk, Hank unwittingly becomes part of the dastardly narcissistic Ika Chu's plans to rid Kakamucho of all its inhabitants. Just one small obstacle stands in Ika's way of world domination (okay, Kakamucho-domination) and his evil plan is to trick Hank into helping him, by driving out the townsfolk forever. Step forward Jimbo, a once mighty samurai who has since fallen from grace, and Emiko, a feisty kitten who shares Hank's dreams. Together this mismatched trio will embark on a journey that sees them overcome prejudices and learn the true meaning of friendship.
