Baed on the true story of the foundation of the Greenpeace activist movement- The 'Arctic 30' gained international prominence when they attempted to attach a Greenpeace pod to the side of a floating offshore rig to prevent oil being extracted from the brutally cold Arctic waters. Before they could begin demonstrating, their boat was boarded Russian armed forces, who towed it out of international waters and imprisoned the activists at Russia’s most brutal jail, Murmansk. In 1842 the gifted young English artist Richard Dadd went on a Grand Tour of Europe and the Middle East with his patron. On reaching Egypt he was suffering from delusions and sunstroke. He began to hear voices and become obsessed with the Egyptian god Osiris who told him to murder his father. On returning to England he was ill, unrecognisable and proceeded to kill his father who he believed to be an imposter.Dadd was commited to the asylum Bedlam, where he painted his greatest (and now highly regarded) works, works that uncovered a world beneath the surface of the every day. Based on the novel by Jennifer Higgie published in 2006.

He had an acerbic risqué wit and was a familiar face to millions in the UK. La Rue hosted his own TV series in the 1970s and also his own Saturday night live show from the London Palladium. Alongside his glitzy public persona La Rue had a complex personal life, including a web of relationships with both his male manager and his devoted female costume designer.

Set in 1976 on a wild piece of English coastline somewhere in the north-west, 'The Loney' follows fifteen-year-old Tonto and his older brother, Hanny, as they embark on their annual pilgrimage with their parents, a Catholic priest and a collection of other oddballs, to visit a nearby shrine. Hanny’s parents hope the shrine will cure their son of his seemingly severe learning difficulties and muteness. They are holed up in an old house that, twice a day, is engulfed by a murderous tide while a mystery hangs over the group following the death of last year’s priest. Murkier yet are a couple staying at a house across the bay with a – possibly underage- heavily pregnant girl in a wheelchair.
