Synopsis

Guy Harris, an arrogant and selfish corporate businessman, is devastated when he finds out he only has a few weeks left to live. All alone, with little time left he decides he must face his estranged father one last time. Hitting the road in ‘Bluey’, the rust bucket MG Midget that he stole from his dad after they fell out at his mum’s funeral, Guy travels the Long Road of self-discovery back to his hometown of Belfast. Along the way, he meets Bryn and Rosie and each encounter, each experience forces him to face up to himself, a man struggling to come to terms with long buried emotions. Guy learns that he must change if he is to put things right before it’s too late.

Synopsis

Martin Dyer is a very ordinary man with a very ordinary life. An insurance Loss Adjuster for many years, he spends his time assessing other people’s problems and ignoring his own. His wife Angie aspires to greater things and when finances hit rock bottom, she leaves him for a suave loan shark one week before Christmas. Martin is crest fallen but forced into continuing his day by the overly exuberant company secretary, who has scheduled several claims for Martin to validate. With a heavy heart, Martin sets off but his day drastically goes from bad to worse with a catalogue of extraordinary and humorous encounters with a flirtatious elderly widow, a corrupt Doctor, a lascivious female escort and a dead rat. It is only at the funeral of a client that Martin has an epiphany; and with the help of his unlikely friendship with a teenage thief and perhaps a sprinkling of Christmas magic, life suddenly changes in a truly remarkable way. The Loss Adjuster is a Christmas movie, an uplifting feel good black comedy that explores every day issues; aimed at a family audience.

Synopsis

On November 24, 1971, a man calling himself Dan Cooper, wearing a black suit and raincoat, carrying only a briefcase, walked up to the Northwest Orient desk at Portland Airport and bought a $20 one-way ticket to Seattle. Once on the plane he handed a note to a stewardess saying he has a bomb in his briefcase and demanding that a selection of parachutes and a briefcase containing $200K in cash are brought to him as soon as the plane lands in Seattle. The FBI hastily gather the ransom and parachutes then drive onto the tarmac at Seattle airport to meet the plane. Cooper allows the passengers to go free and instructs the plane to take off again. A half-hour later, somewhere over Washington State, Cooper jumps. He is never seen again. Within hours, the FBI embarks on the largest search operation in its history, using spy-planes, helicopters, submarines and speedboats. They draft in hundreds of soldiers and recreate the exact flight path and jump site. Despite this, Cooper is not found. Over the years, Cooper’s identity has always remained out of reach. But 46 years later, the search has been narrowed down to four compelling suspects.

Who killed Wanda Lopez? The young store clerk was brutally hacked to death as she worked at a gas station in Corpus Christi TX one cold November night in 1983. Six years later, 27 year old Carlos DeLuna was executed for her murder. All along he protested his innocence, refusing to plead guilty. DeLuna said another 'Carlos' did it. At trial the prosecution derided his claim, saying the other Carlos was "A Phantom". DeLuna was right. The real killer was Carlos Hernandez, a psychopathic drifter with a string of violent assaults on women to his name – a man all too well known to the police and the D.A. This film conclusively proves that the US judicial system killed an innocent man, uncovering crucial evidence that demonstrates Carlos DeLuna’s innocence, beyond any reasonable doubt. THE PHANTOM is a searching, enraging examination of one of the darkest episodes in the history of American justice. LIME STREET combines archive footage, documentary, animation and the performance film of COSTA Book Award nominated Jeff Young's play BRIGHT PHOENIX starring Cathy Tyson (Mona Lisa). It explores how changing, sanitising and eradicating the urban landscape distinct to a city, notably the now demolished Futurist Cinema in Liverpool that is featured in BRIGHT PHOENIX, leads to a degradation of culture and a caustic erosion with the past. How do places recall culture and society in a unique way? How do they offer a physical, organic link to new generations? How are they live stages for culture to grow? This is a city that can’t be found in a guidebook, a culture that lives in the walls of places like the Futurist Cinema. When it is torn down, the future vanishes. LIME STREET blends an elegiac play with an investigative documentary, ergo the recent arrest of city Mayor Joe Anderson and current investigation into bribery charges surrounding property development. In an age where city planning and regeneration are so relevant to the present and future of cities, this project explores how retaining and restoring places means so much more than nostalgia.

A shocking expose of Western governments' love affair with torture. In the 1950s Montreal Scottish born psychiatrist Dr Ewen Cameron experimented on his unwitting patients. His techniques included sensory deprivation, forced comas and LSD injections, covertly funded by the Canadian Government and the CIA. Since then his techniques have been used in Northern Ireland, Guantánamo and 27 other countries. 'Do No Harm' includes extraordinary first hand testimony from Guantanamo Bay survivors, Hooded Men from Northern Ireland, senior American psychologists and military personnel. This documentary shows how the collusion of doctors to aid and abet torture began in the 1950s and continues to this day. Interviewees include: former Chief Investigator for al Qaeda Mark Fallon; US Army General Stephen Xenakis; Guantanemo detainees Mohamedou Ould Slahi and Moazzam Begg; and Dr. Steven Reisner who blew the whistle on the collusion between psychologists and the CIA. In Belfast we film with Hooded Men Francis McGuigan, Liam Shannon and Brian Turley, as the European Court of Human Rights decides whether to rule in their favour and redraw the boundaries on what is legally defined as torture.
