Gateshead, North East England. Chaim is a 12-year-old Orthodox Jewish boy. His mother has just remarried and he's not happy. 16-year-old Kayleigh has been kicked out of her house and has nowhere to go. When an incident forces them together, unexpected things happen. Young TV actress and household celebrity Chloe Collins has quit the TV show that made her name and is making her stage debut in an offbeat production of Oscar Wilde's Salomé. Directed by a New York wunderkind fresh from a major Broadway success, and produced by an award-winning theatre company, the stakes are high, not just for Chloe. The fact that she can't even seem to learn her lines doesn't exactly help. When she suffers a personal tragedy a week before opening night, the mounting media attention surrounding the project intensifies. The details of his extremely modest, uncompromising way of life are here unpicked through a rich weave of incredible archival TV appearances from around the world (he featured on amongst others, the David Letterman show) plus very touching 16mm and mobile phone footage shot by friend and director William English. Artist Tacita Dean, and actor Stephen Dillane presented a live theatrical happening performed over four nights at the 2014 Sydney Biennial, with two 16mm cameras rolling on each occasion. Dillane changed elements of his appearance each night and, snatching pages from Dean who was seated in the front row, recited Shakespeare, popular texts and personal stories, whilst also announcing adjustments in the camera set-ups and the changing of reels.
