Synopsis

On April 6, 2006, a young man named Halit Yozgat was shot and killed in a Kassel internet café. His murder was the ninth in a series of ten committed by a terrorist group called the National Socialist Underground (NSU) between 2000 and 2007. Andreas Temme, an employee of Hessen’s State Office for the Protection of the Constitution, was also present that same day. He claimed to have already left the café at the time of the crime. Known for how they merge artistic and politic practice, the Forensic Architecture collective took on the murder of Halit Yozgat, precisely reconstructing the minutes before and after the crime in their film 77sqm_9:26min. Which elements of Andreas Temme’s statements are true and which are not is the central question of the film, which was shown for the first time at documenta 14 in Kassel. Witness statements are compared and sets of movements reconstructed in a replica of the internet café, while a digital simulation shows how long the smell of the gunshots remains in the air. The conclusions that can be drawn from the research form a damning indictment of the investigative and judiciary authorities. A re-imagining of Shakespeare's magical fairy tale 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in a contemporary setting, under a full moon and during a Caribbean Festival in Barbados. Comedy and chaos ensue when mischievous fairies tamper with the wedding plans of returning Nationals Theseus and Hippolyta, four young lovers, and a group of fishermen keen to perform their potentially prize-winning play. Juxtaposing images of the production sites of the pharmaceutical-chemical industry with speculations on the historical, social, and material conditions of Cyanotype photography, in this piece artist Kerstin Schroedinger probes into the (gendered) politics of materiality and the (violent) historicities of its form. They revisit sites in Seveso, Italy, and Basel, Switzerland that both relate directly to the history of Prussian Blue, a blue synthetic dye. Synopsis

A short, animated film about the interior of an 'iceberg' home (a home where the sub-ground levels are larger than the house above). The iceberg home in question was not developed due to hundreds of objections from surrounding neighbours in Knightsbridge, West London. CONSTRUCTION LINES shows this iceberg home rendered as a 3D model, using the original architectural plans and the software ‘Sketchup’. The narrative of the film, the model of the home, and the scenes played out within it, are informed by the objections filed against the planning application, as well as online articles speculating about the lives and lifestyles of the super-rich.
