On a Friday night after a drunken house party with his straight mates, Russell heads out to a gay club, alone and on the pull. Just before closing time he picks up Glen but what's expected to be just a one-night stand becomes something else, something special. That weekend, in bars and in bedrooms, getting drunk and taking drugs, telling stories and having sex, the two men get to know each other. It is a brief encounter that will resonate throughout their lives. 'Weekend' is both an honest and unapologetic love story between two guys and a film about the universal struggle for an authentic life in all its forms. On Erin Island, an idyllic rural fishing village off the coast of Ireland, Ciarán O’Shea, the charming but heavy-drinking local policeman, is tasked with greeting Lisa Nolan, a straightlaced young officer who has just arrived off the ferry. The documentary About a Band features Edinburgh's Columcille Ceilidh Band which includes musicians with learning disabilities.

The filmmakers follow the band playing at a variety of venues in Scotland as well as at workshops for people with learning disabilities. Interviews with the band members show their working relationship and the creative tensions that exist within any band.

The joyous sounds of the ceilidh music are interwoven with these personal tales, giving a true sense of just how important the band is in their lives.The film includes an interview with Ian McCalman of Scotland's top folk band McCalmans and a sequence in which distinguished Scottish folk musician and composer Phil Cunningham plays with the band at a rehearsal.
