Synopsis

In 1972 the Los Angeles performance art scene was flourishing, vital and dangerous. It’s founding members went on to define art as we know it. But one of those artists disappeared. Bob Parks returned to the UK, to live with his mother. 35 years later, as tensions build in their bungalow, a tragic accident forces his return to LA.

Rarities and never-before seen footage of fairgrounds, circus entertainment, freak shows, variety performances, music hall and seaside entertainment are chronicled from the 19th and 20th century - early shows that wowed the world and home movies of some of the greatest circus families at a time when the most outlandish, skillful and breathtaking acts traveled the world.
