London, 1888. Amateur inventor, Tamworth, has just created the first moving image machine. A modified pinhole camera with wax cylinders attached, he uses it to document a group of women who have fallen into a conspiracy that the violent ‘Jack The Ripper’ is not a man, but a monster. But his account, though revolutionary, is itself distorted. The newspapers he reads are unregulated, the people he interviews confused by misinformation, and the events he captures cut off and mangled at the edges. This disturbing journey into his sepia-toned rabbit hole delivers a haunting warning on the perspectives we are fed... as well as what - and who - we can truly believe. Set on a converted Thames barge on an Essex estuary, an older and wealthy, dying woman, Valerie, has to say goodbye to her long-term, much younger, male companion, Dan. He is a musician and is going to work in Japan. They will never meet again. Valerie has asked her friend of a similar age, Maggie, to come and take over her care and then accompany her back home for her final days. Dan struggles to leave. The arrival of Maggie, who has never hidden her disapproval of this relationship, brings up old tensions and only makes things worse.  The film, essentially a love story, takes place over one night starting at dusk and ending at dawn, incorporating Valerie's dreams and reveries, as the three of them struggle to overcome their fears.

This is the bold claim made by filmmaker Marcel Grant in this film, which through archive footage along with contemporary interviews with some of the surviving characters, documents the star studded decadence of a scene in which the chic and famous of the world's major cities partied like there was no tomorrow.

Based on The New York Times article ‘The Lost Children of Tuam’ by Dan Barry, published in 2017. Focusing on history enthusiast Catherine Corless, who whilst researching the Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home in Tuam, County Galway, for a local historical society, uncovered a devastating possibility that as many as 796 children had been buried in unmarked graves on the property. The discovery rallied a campaign for justice for both victims and survivors of the home. Excavation of the mass grave began in the summer of 2025.
