Our Story, Our Voice
Director: Owen 'Alik Shahadah
Year: 2008
Our Story, Our Voice is an explosive, unapologetic and unflinching look into the new global crisis and its impact upon the oppressed world. In an age where multi-national companies, states sponsor terrorism, democracy is imposed, and monoculturalism functions as unwritten law, Our Story, Our Voice is an essential film of resistance. From the multi-award-winning producers of 500 Years Later, Our Story, Our Voice transforms what were once isolated whispers into unified, worldwide screams.
The Idea
Director: Owen 'Alik Shahadah
Year: 2007
The Idea is a comical satire of modern society and our inability to listen. It is also a study of contemporary society's insensitivity towards the expression of new ideas and not being willing to give them the appropriate space to grow and form. Rather than asking the right questions, crowding them out with trivial concerns and noisy vacuous statements. Although, in this instance, we drew from archetypal figures of a particular group of people, the message is universal and equally applies to all groups and denominations.
Allies in Exile
Director: Hasan Kattan
Year: 2026
For 14 years, Syrian filmmakers Hasan Kattan and Fadi Al-Halabi have journeyed together through war and storytelling. Their bond was forged on the frontlines of revolution where their cameras recorded terror and hope, laughter and heartbreak – moments that defined a generation. Years later, their story takes an unexpected turn. Confined inside a UK asylum hotel, Hasan and Fadi document a new chapter shaped not by bombs, but by waiting, bureaucracy, and exile. Amid rising anti-refugee hostility, they turn the camera inward exploring friendship and displacement and how filming itself becomes an act of survival when the future is so uncertain.
