FLIM: The Movie

Synopsis

Ravi, a simple man who spent his youth lurking on the outer fringes of Bollywood, stands as much chance of achieving his wild dream of Oscar glory as anyone. Movie audiences view Ravi’s surreal and inglorious journey to the stuff of movie legend through the handheld lens of an amateur documentary crew. Naturally, Ravi fully expects that, this Film, the making of his film, to be a glossy, showbiz tale of one man’s meteoric rise to the top. But when accusations of money laundering and sexual harassment start to fly, Ravi’s fragile grip on both his dream and his sanity start to crumble. The police launch a criminal investigation. And the footage from the documentary team take on a different meaning when used as evidence against him.

To Love A Narcissist To Love A Narcissist

Director: Raffaello Degruttola

Year: 2024

Trust is weaponised in TO LOVE A NARCISSIST.
Charlotte and Roberto are in love. One of them is a covert narcissist. The film portrays the delicate interplay orchestrated by the secret narcissist. Layers of manipulation and aching vulnerability are exposed until the fragility of trust is swallowed by the enduring impact of betrayal.
A resonant story for our times that blurs the lines between love and deceit and will leave you questioning whether authenticity exists.

Little Boxes Little Boxes

Director: Raffaello Degruttola

Year: 2021

LITTLE BOXES was shot entirely on Zoom during the height of the Covid lockdown. Whilst deep into pre-production to shoot another improv-based film in the traditional, location-based sense, the pandemic struck our plans a fatal blow. Having no other option, we decided not to concede defeat and made the decision to create the best, most realistic project we could with what we had at our disposal, under the most difficult of circumstances.

LITTLE BOXES is a drama about how governmental decisions during the pandemic affect the lives of ordinary people in a small corner of Northern England. This hyper-realistic, performance based film takes you on a journey through the world of video calling, observing the strain on relationships through these tiny Zoom windows - their own "little boxes" - and the pressures of enforced incarceration.
Isolated by the virus, the whole world has had to find new ways to communicate and hold our loved ones close - these issues are universally relatable.
The pain of separation. Together, yet apart.

LITTLE BOXES proves that necessity is the mother of invention and that art will always find a way.
The actor’s own lived experience of lockdown seeps through into their characters, alongside the mental pressures we were all buckling under. This enforced style of shooting created a safe place for the characters to communicate in a way that might not have been possible in a conventional filming environment.

Transference: A Bipolar Love Story Transference: A Bipolar Love Story

Director: Raffaello Degruttola

Year: 2020

Katerina, from Norway, begins her journey in London as a nurse working in palliative care. They say it can only come but once in a lifetime, and her bolt of lightning hits unexpectedly when she meets an older male nurse called Nicholas, a man with mystery and intrigue, and a somewhat untraceable past.
Cautious at first, they both try to resist the inevitable passionate romance, but it proves impossible to avoid as an attraction functioning deeper than the thinking mind is set in motion. Nik with his Italian heritage, wears his heart on his sleeve, a contrast to Kat's Nordic culture which excites her. Her new dealings with death have taught her that she really wants to live. The passion and attention with which Nik lives seems to switch on a light in her, which in turn ignites a lust for life in them both, as they begin to live through their emotions and not their logic, leading to a path of not understanding themselves, let alone each other, until it is too late.
