After five years away from Liverpool, Clara Reynolds has finally managed to distance herself from her troubled past and the criminal family she left behind. But when her notorious father, Gerry, summons her home with the news that he is dying, Clara reluctantly returns to a world she thought she had escaped. Reunited with her volatile younger sister Danika and a colourful collection of criminals, friends and old acquaintances, Clara finds herself surrounded by family rivalries, dangerous schemes and increasingly chaotic situations. Determined not to be dragged back into the family business, she soon discovers that escaping the Reynolds family is considerably easier said than done. Set in Liverpool, a darkly comic British crime film about family, loyalty, bad decisions and the consequences of trying to leave your past behind.
Make Believe
Director: Mike Clarke
Year: 2025
Shelly Hayden is a struggling single mother living on a neglected English council estate, desperately trying to shield her six-year-old daughter Daisy from the reality of their situation. With mounting debts, bailiffs at the door and barely enough food to survive, Shelly turns their hardships into games of make-believe, allowing Daisy to remain blissfully unaware of just how close they are to losing everything. But as Shelly searches for help, every door seems to close. Friends have nothing to give, Daisy’s father is nowhere to be found, and the threat of social services taking her daughter grows increasingly real. With Daisy hungry and her options exhausted, Shelly is pushed towards a desperate decision. Inside a local shop, one final game of make-believe offers her a chance to provide for her daughter, but the consequences could cost Shelly the one thing she has fought hardest to protect. A raw and heartbreaking drama about poverty, motherhood and the lengths a parent will go to keep the real world from reaching their child.
